Cats with restricted functioning of the kidneys (renal insufficiency) require special food with a reduced phosphorus and protein content. A typical symptom of kidney problems is the reduced ability to excrete phosphorus, for example. In addition, the kidneys' ability to excrete certain end products of the protein metabolism is also reduced. Too high protein contents can therefore restrict the renal function. The proteins provided in INTEGRA® PROTECT are therefore particularly high quality so that the cats' protein requirement is nevertheless fully covered despite the reduced content. Furthermore the restricted kidney activity means that a slight increase in the Vitamin D3 content is required in INTEGRA® PROTECT Renal. A particularly high acceptance and easy digestibility are distinguishing features of this product. In order to ensure an optimum supply of nutrition, you should, if possible, offer your cat the daily food ration spread over 3 different meals. Particularly in the case of chronic kidney insufficiency, it is important to feed this diet exclusively and throughout the cat's life. The addition of "normal" food products, remains of meals and other supplementary foodstuffs should be avoided in order not to endanger the success of the therapy.
